Spruce Bog by Jean E. Forbes

Jean E. Forbes is a landscape painter. She works primarily in watercolor but also in oil, gouache and acrylic. Jean's art is greatly influenced by her roots in Northwest New Jersey.  Childhood trips to Canada, Maine and the Adirondacks as well as employment at Rutgers environmental camp strengthened her love of the outdoors and influenced her landscapes from an early age. 

       Education includes a BS from the University of Rhode Island ('72) and an MAE from RI School of Design ('89). "The Major Paintings of Winslow Homer" was the focus of an NEH Fellowship that was completed at Syracuse University in 1996.

       Jean taught high school art in RI and led watercolor workshops in RI and Maine. She has  juried into numerous art shows and won awards in sculpture, photography, pen & ink and watercolor. She has illustrated several booklets.
